Brand New Start

Well, this is the sixth month since I started my Diploma course at Taylor's Lakeside University. How was it? My answer will always be the same.. Stressful yet enjoyable :)...

Term 1 was fine, but in Term 2, the timetable is really hectic and verrrrry different from Term 1... Classes are usually from 8 a.m. ~ 6 p.m. If you are talking about practical classes like kitchen and restaurant classes, they are usually from 8 a.m. ~ 2 p.m. You are asking, are we serving breakfast? No :) We are serving lunch at 12 noon. We need to do mise-en-place (pre-preparation) to set up the restaurant, worst still, there are chances of us ending the class after 3 p.m. because sometimes the guests just feel too comfortable in the restaurant and do not feel like living :P So this actually slows down our restaurant closing. Imagine you need to be in heels for that six or seven hours, and you are not allowed to be seated until your guests leave, painful huh? But oh well, I still enjoy restaurant classes :) Will be starting my internship soon anyway, need to train myself to stand more :D As for kitchen classes, well, like I said, it is from 8 a.m. ~ 2 p.m. but this usually ends earlier, at 1.30 p.m. because according to the rules stated, the last order in the restaurant is at... 1 p.m. or 1.30 p.m.? Oh well, I can't remember... anchovy brain.. Quote Ei Von, a.k.a. my kitchen partner :P Good to have her as my kitchen partner. We do argue (not the very big one, just small arguments!) sometimes, but I still think that I can work best with her :D We know what each another is capable of, so from there, we can work together better... For example.. We need to cut pumpkin, I have more strength than her, so I will cut the pumpkin into quarter-sized chunks, and we both work together to cut them into smaller pieces and peel off the skin :P But obviously she is better than me so when she have done her part she will help me! :D As for Rooms Division which includes Housekeeping and Front Office classes it usually takes about 3 hours per class we learn about how to make a bed (Housekeeping) and how to communicate with the guest in a correct manner (via telephone, or face-to-face). Well, I am sure I will learn more in Term 3 ;)

Moving on to Theory classes, well, my current favourite subject is... Tadaaa, COMG Thinking Skills! Taught by Mr. Adrian... A subject that inspires you to think more (conclusion of the subject in one sentence). Enhances critical and creative thinking...! Well it is fun... For Thinking Skills Black Box Challenge (It is a MUST for every batch, so enjoy!) we have a comb this year..

Yes, a FREAKING comb! So... what happened to the comb? Will talk about that in another post maybe, long story :) Well, we also have classes on Malaysian Studies, and no, classes will never be boring if you have a good lecturer like mine :P Miss Sophie! She is super nice and funny :D  her! Believe it or not, we still have classes on Principles of Accounting, well we are learning the basics la :) I heard that it is a must for most of the courses... Business Mathematics I.. :/ similar to additional mathematics (certain chapters) and will continue in next term..? Food Science & Sanitation I... Divided into two parts, Nutrition and Hygiene, for the Nutrition part you have to study to know what are the functions of vitamins and minerals and some other things :P Hygiene is more on common sense (according to Miss Nancy) but still need to study okay? Got all the wierd wierd bacteria names to memorize la.. :-*

Well I guess that's all for now. BYE!

XOXO
With Lots of
